Costa Rica
A mixture of traditional and modern architectural elements, this two-story house in Costa Rica ($95 per night) includes both Great Camp–style twig-work railings and a contemporary window design. Charmingly or terrifyingly, depending on your view, its AirBnB listing cautions that “as with all tree houses, there is some movement when the wind blows, and this could be uncomfortable for people prone to motion sickness.”

Cave Junction, Oregon
The long deck to this Cave Junction, Oregon, tree house—which calls itself the “Calypso” and rents year round—features pine-tree cutouts in its railing.
