Bella’roma Rose – Hybrid Tea Rose

September 6, 2015

The Bella’roma Rose was bred by Dr. Keith W. Zary in 2003 in the United States and was introduced in the US by Jackson & Perkins. It is a hybrid tea rose of pinkish blend with pink edges and yellow center. The name alone lets you know this rose not only has classic beauty, but also boasts a strong, tantalizing fragrance. Its bright yellow pointed buds spiral open to reveal warm yellow petals blushed with varying degrees of pink at their edges. Drenched with sweet antique rose perfume, the heady fragrance radiates throughout the garden and indoors as long-stemmed cutflowers. The flowers have 26 to 40 petals with an average diameter of 4.5″ borne mostly solitary, high-centered bloom form and blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Foliage is glossy dark green, covering well-branched, disease resistant plants. It has a height of 135 cm and is USDA zone 6b through 9b.  Remove spent blooms to encourage re-bloom and remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you’ll probably find you’ll have to prune a little more than that.
